There are various ways to implement an IoT gateway. For example, it is easy to build an IoT gateway yourself using the open source software Node-RED and a Raspberry Pi. The Raspberry Pi provides the necessary computer and Node-RED software interface to address or read the protocols of field sensors and actuators and establish communication.
The EG8000 requires no programming knowledge for data acquisition, local processing and cloud integration. With Node-RED, the connection between old and new industrial technologies in IoT (Internet of Things) can be easily established. It provides a browser-based stream editor to easily connect streams using the various network nodes available in the palette. A node always has at least one input or output.
